InVINtions Winery Easter

Easter is a gastronomic bonanza, which means it is prime time for wine pairing!  Whether your Easter this year consists of ham, quiche, eggs or lamb, we’ve got the right wine pairings to compliment any Easter feast.

Ham:
Ham is often the centerpiece of many Easter menus.  This year, try your ham dish with InVINtions dry rosé wine.  Light tannins and berry fruitiness make the dry rosé a thirst-quenching partner for ham’s salt cure.

If you like sweeter wines, any of our fruit series of wine, including the apple, apricot, and pineapple wines are ideal partners for ham.

If you are looking for a more traditional choice with your ham, go for a Riesling or a Gewürztraminer.  Both of these wines will tend to present enough sweet fruit to perfectly balance the salt in the ham without being too sweet for the more discerning palate.  If you are like our wine making team, and are looking to enjoy a red with your ham, try the Old Vines Zinfandel which brings more fruit on the front of the palate, but is balanced out by the acidity and higher alcohol content. 

Quiche or Eggs:
By themselves, eggs can be quite difficult to pair; however, with the addition of a few vegetables, some cheese and bacon, you have a quiche that will pair perfectly with InVINtions’ Chenin Blanc.

Lamb:
If you are a red wine lover, lamb is your most versatile choice for an Easter meat that pairs with red wine.  That being said, different lambs will pair differently with the wines.  For Lamb with a more assertive flavor Montage is your best bet!  InVINtions, A Creative Winery’s Montage  provides an intoxicatingly savory blend of pepper and smoke.  If your meat this Easter is slightly less gamy, Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect match.  We recommend the InVINtions’ Lodi Cabernet which will provide a well rounded, succulent fruit with herbal notes.  With the softest of lamb flavors, you can do no better than a perfect Pinot Noir, a wine where the grace of the flavors mimic the buds of spring.  We recommend InVINtions’ B.C. Pinot Noir.  The acidity in this wine provides the perfect counterpart to spring lamb’s silken texture.

Fruit:
For the fresh fruit salad, or a fruit dessert, choose a wine that is equally refreshing, like InVINtions’ Red Moscato.  It is lighter in alcohol, with just enough sugar to match the fruit or a lightly sweet dessert. 

Vegetables:
When you think of spring, do you thing of delicious petite asparagus and crisp green peas?  Those are two of the most common vegetables that are seen during an Easter feast.  Both choices are rich in flavor and demand crisp wines.  InVINtions, A Creative Winery’s Sauvignon Blanc and Verdicchio both have vibrant, tangy acid that will compliment the veggies’ strength and flavors while keeping it light for the taste of spring.
